In 1948 the Magnetic Amplifiers Subcommittee of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers was formed. In 1951 it became the Committee on Magnetic Amplifiers, and in 1961 this name was changed to Nonlinear Magnetics Committee. When the American Institute of Electrical Engineers merged with the Institute of Radio Engineers in Jan. 1963 to form the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Nonlinear Magnetics Committee continued as a subdivision of the new body. On Jan. 1, 1965, the Nonlinear Magnetics Committee was reorganized to form the Magnetics Group, which in 1971 became the IEEE Magnetics Society. Works by these bodies are found under the following headings according to the name used at the time of publication: American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Magnetic Amplifiers Subcommittee. American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Committee on Magnetic Amplifiers. American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Nonlinear Magnetics Committee.
